For Parents

Welcome Parents!

Dear Parents,

I want to maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning for all children.  I will thoroughly discuss classroom procedures and rules with them so there will be no question as to my expectations.  You may want to review the discipline plan and classroom procedures with your child  to reinforce classroom expectations.  I appreciate the parental support that you provide your child.  With your support, together we will educate your child and help him/her to become a responsible, caring, and unique individual.  Thank you for all that you do for your child.

How the Classroom Website Can Be Helpful to You and Your Child

The classroom website will be a very important part of our classroom life throughout the school year. Students will be completing assignments and receiving instruction from some of these sites. Many times parents ask for extra work for their child and this website can provide that.  The math page has links to different sites that your child can use for extra practice of math skills. Most of the sites are in game format and some are in tutorial form.

Your child is also registered with the online community provided by their Scott Foresman math textbook. A link to the site can be found at the top of the math page.  A letter explaining the login procedure with usernames and passwords will be sent home within the first 3 weeks of school.  The SFSuccessNet site allows students to access their textbooks online!  Students can find more examples, more practice, test prep, videos and math tools with this great site.  Students will be using this site in class. This is a great site and it can really be a big help to students. Parents please encourage your child to visit the site o ften.

The science section of the website gives links for the units that will be covered this year.  Again some sites are provided for extra practice and reading, while other sites will be used for classroom instruction, student projects and WebQuests.

Access Math and Science Grades Online.   Each student is registered to Engrade.com and you should receive a letter explaining the login procedure with the username and password within the first few weeks of class.  The site also provides a citizenship section that I will use to post additonal comments about student workhabits.  The grades posted on the website will be the same as those kept in my rollbook.

The website also provides links to school news and events along with homework, copies of study guides and photos of our learning in progress.  I hope this website will serve as a valuable tool to helping you stay involved with your child's      academic progress this school year.

Every Friday your child will receive a behavior and conduct sheet.  It is to be signed and returned on Monday.

Student papers will be sent home every two weeks on Wednesdays.  Please review your child's work with him/her.  Sign and return both the folder and the papers on Thursday.
